This is the camera I use when I teach people new to video. It has everything you need to create phenomenal shots. Without costing an arm and a leg.
Learn the basic camera disciplines and this camera will make your online videos look as if they were taken by a pro.
Why I Recommend This
I use this camera in our three-day video workshops because it is the cheapest camera that fulfills my criteria of having:
- external mic input,
- manual audio control,
- manual focus,
- manual exposure, manual white balance.
This camera is extraordinarily easy to learn and use. We spend less than an hour in class, and participants are shooting phenomenal videos.
Worry Less About Price and More About Skills
I often see participants who learn the disciplines of shooting, get better shots on this camera than on fancy cameras eight times the price. Match this with a fluid-head tripod and external microphone and everyone will think your video was shot by a pro!
Drawbacks
What are the drawbacks? To keep costs down, much of the functionality is embedded in the menu in the viewfinder.
This can be clumsy but unless you drop another thousand dollars or more, you’re going to mostly have functions accessed by the viewfinder.
