Pre-Seminar Prep for Video Writing Workshop

Create the Future

You  have now completed your pre-seminar questionnaire.  Before you come to the seminar, we need you to complete the following tasks.  Allow an hour.

  1. Prepare two key messages
  2. Watch and critique two videos

Here are specific instructions for each of these tasks.

Your Two Key Messages

To make our time together fun, relevant and ensure your learning sticks, we will be planning and in some cases creating two video messages.

Rather than give you a generic topic that interests me (and quite possibly bores you), I’d like you to come along with two topics that are relevant to you and your work that we can use.

We will craft a video message about your topics during our time together.

The topic you bring could be a message to the company about how to improve an aspect of customer service.  It might be a hero story you want to share.  Or it might be a promotional video to raise the importance of mentoring programs.

Before you come to the workshop, write down the main points to each message you have.  Bring these summaries with you to the workshop.

For your first message, I’d also like you to bring ten images or pictures that you think could portray your message.  These pictures need to be in jpg format.  And they need to be compressed to a file size that is no larger than 80 k each.

If you are not technically minded and have any questions about these pictures, please feel free to email us ahead of time.

Your Video Critiques

I’d also like you to watch two web videos before you come to the workshop.

We’re going to discuss these together.  So please take a few minutes to watch them.  I’ve provided the link to each of these videos below.

We’re going to discuss what you like/dislike about them and how they can be improved.  So think about these things as you watch them, write them down and bring your thoughts to the seminar!

I am looking forward to meeting you!
